The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is launching an application round for candidates interested in participating in the ICANN66 Annual General Meeting through the Fellowship Program. New Mobile Broadband Pricing Data Reveals Stalling Progress on Affordability

Those who live in low-income countries face the least affordable mobile broadband prices in the world. Now, new data from the Alliance for Affordable Internet (A4AI) finds that low-income countries saw mobile broadband costs increase for the first time in four years. Zimbabwe Completes Fibre Project Critical for Global Trade

Zimbabwe's TelOne has capitalised on a US$98-million loan facility from China Exim Bank and completed a massive fibre optic project linking Beitbridge with neighbouring countries, specifically South Africa, to bolster international trade.

Sub-Saharan Africa 2nd Worst Region in Mobile Gender Gap

This is according to the Mobile Gender Gap Report 2019 from GSMA Connected Women, which shows that in Sub-Saharan Africa, women are 15% less likely than men to own a mobile device. Women in the region are also 41% less likely to use mobile Internet. In fact, 86 million women in Sub-Saharan Africa still remain unconnected.

Uzi Zambia once again Postpones Network Launch

The Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA) has for the third time allowed the country's fourth mobile phone operator Uzi Zambia to postpone the launch of its network.
Uzi, whose major shareholder is Unitel International Holdings B.V registered in the Netherlands, secured a network licence in March 2018, valid for 15 years, to compete against MTN Zambia, Airtel Zambia and Zamtel.
