It is with an immense honor and a lot of pride that I witness today the launch of the official website of the Second Annual AFICTA Summit, which we will host in Cairo, Egypt from 2 to 5 November 2014.

‎The event, which we expect to host more than 300 participants, will bring together experts, operators, regulators, ICT specialized financiers, technicians, some of the world's recognized authorities, as well as a number of key state officials and ministers from the African continent.

Assembled around a deep, transparent and open exchange, participants are expected to debate and address the key issues and challenges to optimize the use of ICT as a driver for African economic growth, integration and African human development in the larger sense.

With a great support and focus from "EITESAL", the Egyptian focal point for AfICTA, a number of well thought out panels and discussions are organized. These will cover, inter-alia, the use of ICT in areas of health, agriculture, education as well as other crucial segments to African development. In addition, a rich matchmaking event is planned, which we hope and believe will drive the right value for participants. Finally, the event will allow participants to visit the well-established and recognized Cairo ICT Conference, where exhibitors are awaited for to showcase their latest innovations and tools from 4 to 7 November 2014.

Held under the auspices of the Egyptian Ministry offor Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and with the blessing of the Egyptian leadership, the event is perfectly in line with the current government’s continued resolve to affirm a central and leading role for Egypt in African development, and its commitment to an increase in the use of ICT as a driver and enabler for prosperity and development.

I look forward to receiving you in Cairo, and wish you all swift and dynamic exchanges through this site.

Let innovation drive Excellence, and may knowledge continuously be shared.
