Theme: Advancing Inclusive Economic Growth: The Role of Security, Digital Skills, and Indigenous Content in Regional and National SME Development
Africa’s digital economy presents significant opportunities for economic diversification, job creation, innovation and improved public service delivery. However, achieving inclusive and sustainable digital-driven growth requires more than technology infrastructure. It depends on a secure digital environment, a digitally skilled population, and the development and adoption of indigenous digital content and solutions. At the regional, sub-regional, national, sub-national, local and SME levels, these three elements (security, digital skills and indigenous content) can play a critical role in strengthening productivity, competitiveness, innovation and economic participation as laid out in the WSIS+20 Outcome document, the Global Digital Compact (GDC) and the AU Agenda 2063. The 14th AfICTA Summit (Hybrid) will provide a platform for stakeholders across government, the private sector, the civil society, academia, technology and development sectors to examine how digital transformation can translate into broader economic opportunities and inclusive development across Africa. The Summit will also examine how the stakeholders can leverage digital technologies to promote inclusive economic growth, while addressing challenges relating to cybersecurity, digital skills gaps, digital exclusion, limited local content and SME development.
