Mr Samwel Kinuthia Kariuki

 Name: Mr Samwel Kinuthia Kariuki

Samwel's impact on the IT industry is evident and deserves this award; for instance, he trained, mentored, and guided students to the global finals of Huawei competitions in China in 2019, 2023, and 2024. He stood out as one of the leading trainers in the competition, having taught and mentored more than 100 trainees from various training institutions in the Huawei ICT competitions' datacom, cloud, and computing tracks. This year, his commitment to fostering talent earned him the title of Kenya's 2024 Most Valuable Instructor (MVI), and he was one of the 24 distinguished Most Valuable instructors who participated in the global instructor’s forum at Huawei HQ in China.

Following the training of more than 2,000 students and community members last year, Cisco Academy recognized him as the second-best-performing instructor in Kenya for 2023. He has mentored over 100 innovators, and this year, he participated in the third edition of the ATU Innovation Challenge, which helped his university secure second place and win $10,000 USD. He has persistently guided students and currently holds a patron role in the ITech Community, managing more than 20 clubs at Zetech University. The ITECh club received the accolade of best university club of 2024 for its significant contributions to mentorship, training, and innovations.

His outstanding contributions to training and mentoring secured him a place in the Oracle Academy member spotlight for 2023. Moreover, he serves as a trustee for the Internet Society Kenya Chapter. In March of this year, he organized a user acceptance day that was hosted at Zetech University. As part of the ISOC team, he provided training to over 300 community members. To support the event, he and the ISOC-Kenya team applied for and received USD 2000 from the ICANN User Acceptance Steering group, of which he is a member of two working groups.

In March 2024, he successfully introduced and implemented PearsonVue testing centres at Zetech University, where he oversaw the administration of more than 100 exams from various industry providers to secure his trainee's certification this year.
Lastly, Kariuki, a member of the African Regional At-Large Organisation (AFRALO),He has participated as a pen holder in drafting AFRALO Statement Presented in ICANN meetings, he recently participated in the AFRALO ICANN80 Planning Committee for the ICANN meeting that took place in Kigali, Rwanda, in June 2024

Praise be to God, I love my work and know its value completely, and I used to work in a spirit of seriousness and diligence with a team that loves work and achievement  Life is ambition and as long as you have a goal, you will achieve it with perseverance, focus, flexibility, and persistence.

It was the most of my happiness to achieve my ambition after a long journey of fatigue and challenges; experiences, errors, and failings, and also full of love and passion for everything new in the world of information and communication technology.   From the foregoing, I was one of the founders of the information center in the company, and I am proud of the achievements, as I was able with time, alongside the team that worked with passion and love for technology, to contribute to raising the wheel of production and also raising the company’s reputation and placing it in an advanced position.

Whether I win it as an individual or win it as a team for my company, this award is the manifestation of recognition for all the hard work being put in projects & initiatives, in my career or in carrying my responsibilities as an IT Head, CIO, This is the avenue where I can showcase my work and benchmark myself against the peers in the industry. The candidate is the first person in Sudan to use and manage the e-mail server at Gezira University since 1996, before Internet services entered Sudan. This email service provider served most universities, research centers and hospitals in Sudan. This server contributed to raising awareness of the importance of Internet services in Sudan. The candidate also trained researchers, students, and university professors to use the Internet by holding workshops, forums, and seminars in Sudan. He also participated in the workshop for countries that are beginning to form networks in Switzerland in 1998.

He became a member of the Internet Society in 1998. The candidate continued to work in Sudan and abroad to raise the level of societies with Internet literacy and its services and to cooperate with organizations and individuals from outside Sudan. The candidate also participated in the founding meetings to establish the AfriNiC Organization in Africa. -​Provide mentorship in the Hackathon of Accessible Cities for PwDs, which was held at the National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities under the Ministry of Communications - 2020.
-​Developing the strategy for the Reyada Center for People with Special Needs in 10th of Ramadan city, affiliated to the Ministry of Education – 2020.
-​Implementation of the first Arab digital training platform for people with hearing disabilities- 2016.
-​Implementation of the first portal dedicated to the employment of persons with disabilities in Egypt, in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications, as well as training qualifications program, and 250 blind people has been hired successfully as an achievement of this cooperation -2019.

Integrated Political Parties Management Information System (IPPMS) is a web application developed to facilitate efficient and effective management of political party records

The Political Parties Act, 2011 (PPA 2011) establishes the Office of the Register of Political Parties (ORPP) as an Independent State Office. Section 34 of the PPA 2011 prescribes the functions of the Office of Registrar of Political Parties. Section (34b) guides on the use of technology; Specifically section 34(B) mandates the Registrar to establish a Political Parties Management Information System(IPPMS) that the Registrar shall use for processing political parties’ data and records, ensure that the technology established is simple, accurate, verifiable, secure, accountable and transparent. Further guidance on technology deployment is provided for under The Political Parties (Membership) Regulations, 2021.

As member of staff, ORPP has a well custom-developed Integrated Political Parties Management Information Systems(IPPMS), support infrastructure and other operational systems. ORPP aims to achieve its’ strategic objectives of enhancing its ICT infrastructure through automation of business operations and enhancement of system security. In line with our work which includes strengthening democratic governance through advocacy and institutional strengthening. The Office of Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) recognizes that the personal data of Political Parties Membership Register and other stakeholders is essential for the administration and management of the operations of ORPP.

Alphonce has been attributed to the growth and development of Community Networks in Kenya, where he trained over 50 community network engineers on Network Infrastructure and Services for community networks. Through this initiative, Alphonce has supported 13 community networks in Kenya and several others from Africa.

Mr Samwel Kinuthia Kariuki

His outstanding contributions to training and mentoring secured him a place in the Oracle Academy member spotlight for 2023. Moreover, he serves as a trustee for the Internet Society Kenya Chapter. In March of this year, he organized a user acceptance day that was hosted at Zetech University. As part of the ISOC team, he provided training to over 300 community members. I am highly motivated to submit this nomination for her because she has experience working as a volunteer at the 9th Francophonie Games, where she helped her community receive delegations from other countries. She has also trained young girls and boys in her community in agro-transformation to prevent idleness, drunkenness, debauchery, and violence against women.
